Forge Industrial Supply was founded in October 1997 by Frank Kasprak on a single dock at 1840 Liberty Avenue. Twenty-eight years later we ship from four warehouses across the Eastern US — and the phone still answers to the same family.
Forge Industrial Supply opened in October 1997 out of a single dock at 1840 Liberty Avenue with one forklift, a $14,000 line of credit, and Frank Kasprak answering the phone himself. The first standing order was 200 cases of nitrile gloves for an Allegheny County maintenance shop. That account is still on the books.
We deliberately stayed regional. Pittsburgh DC was the first. Columbus opened in 2006 to cover Ohio Valley plants. Charlotte followed in 2014 for the Carolinas manufacturing wave. Hartford opened in 2020 to cover the Northeast utilities and municipal buyers we couldn’t reach in two days from PA. Four DCs is the cap. We’d rather ship faster from four than slower from ten.
Today we stock 12,400 SKUs across six aisles — safety, power tools, material handling, welding, PPE, and janitorial — and we answer to 1,200+ B2B accounts across manufacturing, construction, utilities, and the public sector. We hold the ISO 9001 cert, we ship OSHA-compliant gear, and we run Net-30 terms for anyone who passes a 24-hour credit check.
We don’t advertise on the radio. We don’t buy keyword auctions. Every new account comes from a buyer who asked their counterpart at another shop who they trusted to ship the right SKU before noon.
