What homeowners ask about battery storage.

How much backup does one Powerwall give me?

One Powerwall 3 stores 13.5 kWh and outputs 11.5 kW continuous, 22 kW peak. That covers AC, fridge, lights, internet, and a couple of outlets for most homes through a 12-hour outage. Two Powerwalls run a whole modern home for 24+ hours including AC.

Does battery storage pay for itself?

It depends on your utility plan. On APS time-of-use plans where 4–7pm peak rates are 3× off-peak, a Powerwall pays back in 8–11 years just from rate-arbitrage. On flat rates, the value is mostly resilience + backup, not bill reduction.

What about EV charging during an outage?

With Powerwall + the Tesla Wall Connector, you can choose to back up the EV charger at reduced rate (typically 16A) or skip it. Most customers skip car charging during outages and keep the AC and fridge online instead.

Can I add storage to a system I already own?

Yes—we retrofit Powerwall and Enphase IQ batteries onto existing SunWright systems and onto systems other companies installed. Adds typically take a half-day plus utility re-interconnection (10–15 days).
